Clients
What a client is, identity fields, and how deduplication works.
A client is a company you are prospecting. Each client record holds identity information (the company's legal name, domain, and optionally enrichment data) and serves as the anchor for all research, findings, outreach, and notes associated with that company.
Identity fields
The primary identity fields are:
- Legal name: the registered company name (for example, Acme Corporation).
- Domain: the company's primary web domain (for example,
acme.com). Used to look up public information during research.
Additional fields may be populated through enrichment:
- Industry
- Employee headcount range
- Headquarters location
- LinkedIn URL
Contacts
Each client can have one or more contacts. These are the people at that company you are engaging, with a name, email, and role. They are used when drafting outreach.
Deduplication
Client Path deduplicates clients by domain. If you import a client whose domain matches an existing record, the import is treated as an update to the existing record rather than a new entry. This prevents duplicate research histories for the same company.
Deduplication runs:
- On manual import from the add-client form.
- On CSV import (see importing clients).
If two records represent the same company with slightly different domains (for example, acme.com and acme.co), you can merge them manually from the client detail page.
Client enrichment
When a client is created or updated, Client Path can automatically enrich the record with public information: headcount, industry, logo, and LinkedIn. Enrichment runs in the background and does not block research.
Tags
You can add tags to clients to group them (for example, by region, segment, or campaign). Tags are searchable, so you can quickly filter to the clients an automation or outreach sequence should target.
Research history
Each client retains a history of all client research records from every run it has been included in. This lets you see how findings and scores have changed over time.
